The Mining Industry Sector comprises companies engaged in the production or extraction of metals and minerals including, nonferrous metal mining, salt, borate, phosphate rock. This industry sector does not include iron ore mining, which is included in the Steel and other Metal Industry. Producers of aluminium including miners and processors of bauxite are equally excluded. Companies that mine or process gold, silver and other precious metals and producers of precious metal products are also excluded. This sector does not include metallurgical (coking) coal mining used for Steel production.
