AM - General Asset Management

From the Collaborative Bond and Money Market Data Portal

The AM – General Asset Management, or General Asset Management Industry Sector consists of funds that do not fall in any of the other Asset Management sector classifications. This is different from an investment company because they will take clients assets and find ways to grow them.

The Industry Sector is a classification that describes the activity of an entity within the economy. The classification is based on where the relevant entity derives the majority of its revenue.

In the Collaborative Bond and Money Market Data Model the General Asset Management Sector appears within the Industry Sector Type: Fund.

CMDportal uses industry sector classifications both at the Legal Entity level, as well as at the Group level. At the Legal Entity level the entity is classified by their actual industry activity. Accordingly, we classify a Fund that is part of a Bank as for example a “AM- General Asset Management” at the entity level but at the group level as “Bank.”

Based on available data, on the 18th of April 2018 General Asset Management Funds had USD33bn under management.
