| Issuer Description | Republic of Austria Government Bonds (RAGBs) are issued through the Austrian Treasury in the name and for the account of the Republic in three ways: Monthly auctions, through a bank syndicate or own quota increases of outstanding RAGBs on a bi-lateral basis via OeKB. Only participants in the auction procedure are permitted to act as lead and co-lead managers in syndications. The max. legal term for debt issues is 100 years. In July 2021, the Treasury announced a new ATB programme. The existing ATB programme was renamed to Austrian Commercial Paper (ACP) programme. ATBs are now also issued via regular monthly auctions. Other financing instruments include an EMTN programme, an AUD MTN programme and transactions in loan or “Schuldschein” format. Since May 2022, Austria can issue RAGBs, ATBs and ACPs in green format. Total volume of government bond issuance in 2021 was EUR 40.1 billion. At over 11 years avg. maturity (mid-2022), Austria has one of the longest debt portfolios in the EU. |
