ESG ratings and their assessment criteria are still subject to developments and will apply new trends in sustainability. A reactive approach to ESG rating agencies’ findings without commitment and alignment of the organization to sustainability may help to increase an organization’s ESG rating temporarily, but it won’t be sustainable. Only organizations that go all the way, build an honest, widely supported foundation, and change the cultural mindset will establish strong ESG credentials over the long run. This happens when sustainability meets daily operations and is included in decision-making processes.
