Leveraged loan

A leveraged loan is a loan made to an entity that already has either considerable amounts of debt, a low credit rating or both. As such, leveraged loans have a higher risk of default and a higher cost for the borrower. If the credit rating of the borrow is the factor considered, then below investment grade rating would be point at which a loan is considered leveraged.
