2ND ANNUAL CEEMEA EMERGING & FRONTIER DEBT MARKETS

@ London, United Kingdom

2nd Annual CEEMEA Debt Capital Markets

Date: Thursday 21st March 2024
Registration: 13:00
Event Start: 14:00
Venue: One Moorgate Place, London EC2R 6EA

Events Radar’s 2nd Annual CEEMEA Debt Capital Markets event will capture key developments across bond new issuance and performance from the region and will set the context for the remainder of 2024 and beyond.

Primary issuance in 2024 to February 8 was up 10% year-over-year to USD 60bn. But beyond the volume increase, activity was characterised by a broader range of regional issuers from all borrower segments, a shift to longer tenors (out to 30 years), a surge in Sukuk issuance, and the re-emergence of African sovereigns against a backdrop of weak fund inflows.

Speakers confirmed:

  • Edwin Gutierrez, Head of Emerging Market Sovereign Debt, Abrdn
  • Alexis Taffin de Tilques, Head of CEEMEA DCM, BNP Paribas
  • Alex Karolev, Head of CEEMEA Bond Syndicate, JP Morgan
  • Chris Celio, Senior Economist and Strategist, Promeritum Investment Management
  • Hussain Zaidi, Global Head of Syndicate, Standard Chartered Bank

Key discussion points:

  • Review of new-issue activity year to date
  • Assessing deal flow and provenance of issuers
  • Accounting for the early-year surge in Sukuk issuance. Set to continue?
  • Evaluating regional new-issue pricing and performance
  • Reviewing and gauging the future direction of regional fund flows
  • Gauging investor sentiment and the buy-side perspective
  • Update on sustainability financing
  • Assessing progress on debt restructuring in frontier markets
  • Impact of key underlying market drivers: geopolitical, political, macroeconomic, monetary as well as idiosyncratic issuer-related

The session will take the pulse of the CEEMEA regional market and focus on what we expect to see in the remainder of the year. Conducted as an interactive panel discussion between market professionals from the sell-side, buy-side and other market professionals, the session will be moderated by Keith Mullin of KM Capital Markets.
