Branch

From the Collaborative Bond and Money Market Data Portal

Unlike a subsidiary, a branch is not legally separate from the head-office but is a business unit located at a different address and often also at a different location or country. Branches of Financial Institutions typically have their own MFI. They can also have their own LEI if located in a different country, however that is not a must.

In the Collaborative Bond and Money Market Data Model, the classification Branch appears at the Legal Entity Level as an attribute within the field Relationship. Branches are further identified by the appearance of the location between square brackets, f.e. [Paris].

Based on available data, on the 1st of November 2018, the amount of vanilla bonds outstanding through branches was over USD2.7 trillion
